Principal's Message

Term 4, Week 3

Hi Everyone,

The Year 5 Camp was just wonderful!  Great kids, fabulous staff, perfect weather in a picturesque setting and fun activities and food.  Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick!!  Tyalgum is a special place and the staff there are truly incredible.  Thank you so much to Mr Corbett and the Year 5 team for organising this amazing learning opportunity for our kids and thank you to our extra staff who came along and helped out  -  Mrs Jessica Ballantyne, Mr Nathan Reardon and Mr Tim Shepherd, as well as our wonderful parent volunteer Mrs Justine Drummond.  Thank you to Mrs Tara Griffin, who was the principal in my absence and kept the school humming!

This Friday we have the 4-6 Merit Assembly and we look forward to hearing from our Senior Strings.

We have such a big week coming up this week.  We have out debating teams competing in competitions tonight and this Wednesday night  -  all the best gang!  We also have our extraordinary group of children who have been completing the Rotary Challenge, presenting their final portfolios on Tuesday night.  We have two big nights of music this week, with the Band Music Fest tomorrow night at Iona College and the Strings Music Fest on Thursday at MacGregor State School  -  how wonderful!

Our Lunchtime Activities timetable is out now, see attached.  If you ever hear your child saying that they find lunchtimes difficult, go through the timetable with them and point out activities they could be trying.

I will finish by letting you know that unfortunately our crossing supervisors have almost been hit by cars on several occasions, by cars that are not slowing down for the pedestrian crossing.  The police have let us know that they will start to have a heavier presence around our school, and we welcome this support to keep everyone safe.  I urge everyone to slow down and follow all the road rules at drop-off and pick-up time.  Let’s work together to keep everyone in our community safe.

Have a truly wonderful week!

Yours in Education,
