‘Safe Food Handling’ (SFH) and ‘Responsible Service of Alcohol’ (RSA) certificate:

The Year 12 VCE VM students had the opportunity to complete their SFH and RSA certificate. These certificates can be used globally and a great extra skill to have, especially if travelling around the world in the future.

The students were all active and considerate in their participation whilst completing the certificate requirements, well done.

Mock Interviews and Bounce Excursion:

Tuesday August 26th, saw the Year 11 VCE VM students complete external Mock Interviews at the Malvern Town Hall, run by BGKLLEN.

The students had to prepare a portfolio, including a cover letter and resume and complete a mock interview with a member of the BGKLLEN team. The students were highly commended on their attitude and commitment to the mock interviews. The staff commented on how well they performed in their interviews, and they should be very proud of their efforts.

The students were then rewarded with a session at the local ‘Bounce’ trampolining centre. The students had a great time and said that it was one of the best excursions they had attended.

A big thank you to BGKLLEN for organising the Mock Interviews and providing us with the bus transportation.

Year 11 VCE VM PDS Community Project:

The Year 11 VCE VM students, as part of meeting their Outcomes, had to organise a community day at school. The students organised a BBQ, competitions of basketball, soccer and paper plane competitions, amongst other things. They then invited a junior class to take part in the event.

Well done to the students on their organisation and effort in running this event. From all accounts the students from the junior class had a great time and enjoyed all of the activities and the Year 11 students loved running the event. An extra thank you to Mo for all his excellent organisation in managing the project. Well done 11B and Mr Murray on a fantastic event.

Year 12 VCE VM Community Projects:

The Year 12 VCE VM students, to meet the final PDS Outcomes for their VCE VM certificate, were required to plan, implement and evaluate a Community Project. The students needed to investigate a community issue that they were interested in and chose an organsation that supported this issue. The students then had to organise an event to raise funds and awareness for this organisation.

The students raised awareness for many different organisations such as Beyond Blue, Safe Seps, Cancer Foundation, MND, Bowel Cancer Australia, Do it for Dolly, Service Animals Australia, Push for Better, Think Pink and TIACs, and raised just under $2000.

We are so proud of the amazing effort that the students demonstrated in all their projects, well done! A huge thank you to everyone that supported the students also, it was very much appreciated.

Year 12 VCE VM Presentation Evening

Presentation Evening was a huge success and rounded out our year in VCE VM. Students attended with parents and invited guests, and presented their carefully prepared portfolios and presentations, which highlighted their personal pathway journeys—past, present, and future. Each presentation was a testament to the dedication and effort the students have put into their studies and career exploration. It was inspiring to see how they articulated their experiences and aspirations, showcasing not only their skills but also their growth and development over the year.

The event fostered a strong sense of community, with attendees engaging in meaningful conversations about the students' journeys and the opportunities that lie ahead. Thank you to all the staff, students, parents, carers and guests who attended. Thank you also to Jamie Marks and the WRS teachers for all the work put into this evening.
