Dear Families,

It’s been slightly quieter at school with our Year 6’s attending the Canberra Camp for the week! Tomorrow we will be welcoming our Year 5 SRC, Sustainability and Social Justice Leaders to the microphone as they take on the leadership of our school assembly.

A reminder that next week on Monday 3rd March the school will be having a Casual Clothes day. Please bring a gold coin donation to support the P&F. Also on this day we will be taking part in Clean Up Schools Day.

Finally, the school will be closed next week on Thursday 6th March and Friday 7th March and student free days will be in effect to enable our staff to attend a conference before the long weekend. We look forward to seeing everyone back the following week on Tuesday 11th March.

Clean Up Schools Day – March 3rd

We are pleased to announce that on Monday, March 3rd, all students from Year 1 to Year 6 will be taking part in Clean Up Schools Day. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to come together and care for our school environment by collecting litter, sorting recyclables, and learning about sustainability.

Clean Up Schools Day is more than just tidying up—it’s about building responsibility, teamwork, and pride in our surroundings. By taking small actions, our students will make a big difference in keeping our school and community clean and green.

Together, we can help create a cleaner, healthier environment for everyone!

NAPLAN Assessments commencing Wednesday 12th March

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a literacy and numeracy assessment that students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit each year. It is the only national assessment all Australian students have the opportunity to undertake.

As students progress through their school years, it is important to check how well they are learning the essential skills of reading, writing and numeracy.

NAPLAN assesses the literacy and numeracy skills that students are learning through the school curriculum and allows parents/carers to see how their child is progressing against national proficiency standards.

NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process. It does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance, but it can provide teachers with additional information about students’ educational progress.

NAPLAN also provides schools, education authorities and governments with information about how education programs are working and whether young Australians are achieving important educational outcomes in literacy and numeracy.

School Photo Day

School photo day will be held on Wednesday 19th March 2025. Please ensure all students are wearing their full summer uniform (not sports uniform). Envelopes and links for ordering will be sent out closer to the date.
