The Hands on Learning Program continues to be an incredible space where our students not only expand their skills but also make a tangible difference in our school community. This year, our students have been hard at work on projects that showcase their creativity, teamwork and dedication to improving our school environment. We’re excited to highlight some of the amazing work they've done this term.
Refurbishing Art Display Boards for the D Wing - Our students took on the task of refurbishing the Art display boards in the D-Wing, breathing new life into these important spaces. With fresh paint and repairs, these display boards are now an even better place to showcase student artwork.
Gym Bench Renovation and Clean-Up - Another fantastic project involved the students clearing out worn-out benches in the gym. This space will serve as a gym, providing students with a dedicated area to focus on fitness.
Art Installations for Wellbeing Office Fencing - Students designed and installed beautiful art pieces to decorate the fencing outside the Wellbeing Office. This project will not only brightened up the space but will also serve as a visual reminder of the importance of mental health and wellbeing in our school community. It’s a stunning example of how art can make a positive impact on both the environment and the atmosphere of the school.
Maintenance around the HOL Area - Students also dedicated their efforts to maintaining the Hands on Learning space. They tackled a variety of tasks including cleaning gutters on the shed, watering plants and weeding the garden.
Cooking Delicious Meals for Breakfast and Lunch - As part of the program, students take on the responsibility of cooking and preparing delicious meals for breakfast and lunch. This allows students to practice cooking skills, teamwork and food safety, while serving nourishing meals to the school community.
By engaging in these hands-on projects that have a direct impact on our school, students have not only contributed to improving their environment but have also grown as individuals. These projects are perfect examples of how real-world learning fosters personal development, community engagement, and a sense of pride in one’s work. We are so proud of everything our students have accomplished so far and we can’t wait to see where their ideas and hard work will take them next.
