Wominjeka – Welcome in the Woiwurrung language  

As the Lilydale Heights College Community, it is with great pleasure that we extend a warm welcome to seven new deadly First Nations students: April K., Harper B., Bailey E., Ruby C., Ben B., Jackson W. and Cooper T. As you settle into your new surroundings, we encourage you to embrace the spirit of curiosity and discovery that defines our school community. Welcome to our LHC mob. We look forward to seeing you thrive and grow as you embark on a successful and fulfilling year ahead.  

 

Congratulations – First Nations Captain 

We are thrilled to announce that Ella B. has been selected as the First Nations Captain for 2025. Your dedication to fostering diversity and promoting culture, histories, traditions and values of First Nations peoples is truly commendable. Congratulations Ella on this well deserved recognition. We look forward to hearing from Ella in the March newsletter. 

 

Mob Mondays  

Mob Mondays is a dedicated space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to come together, connect and celebrate culture in a supportive school environment. Held every second Monday during Week A, Mob Mondays fosters cultural pride, leadership and wellbeing, while promoting inclusivity and respect within the school community. 

 

Day 1 of 6 at Yarra Ranges Tech School 

On 27th February we see our First Nations students head out to their first Community Practice Day with five other First Nations students from surroundings schools. See the March newsletter to see what we get up to!  

 

Key significant dates on the calendar: 

  • 26 January 2025 – Survival Day, Day of Mourning, Invasion Day  

  • 13 February 2025 – Anniversary of National Apology 2008  

  • 20 March 2025 – National Close the Gap Day
