Ohta Daiichi High School

On Friday, 21st February, we had the pleasure of welcoming our sister school, Ohta Daiichi High School from Ibaraki, Japan, for the first time since 2019. Twenty students and two teachers from Ohta Daiichi were hosted by our generous LHC families during their five-night stay.

Over the weekend, host families took their Ohta Daiichi students sightseeing, visiting a variety of attractions, including the city, the MCG, local beaches, Healesville Sanctuary, and many other popular destinations. During their time at LHC, our visitors participated in a range of activities across Year 9–12 classes. Some highlights included creating photograms in Art, learning the basics of AFL with our Sports teachers and enjoying a "taster" lesson of Australian cuisine in our café.

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful host families for welcoming Ohta Daiichi students into their homes, to our student buddies for their kindness and support and to the entire LHC community for making our visitors feel so at home. The Ohta Daiichi teachers were incredibly impressed by the warmth and friendliness of our staff and students.
