Around The School

SELAMAT DATANG DARI BU FERGUSON!
WELCOME FROM MRS FERGUSON!
Halo, nama saya Bu Ferguson. That means…
‘Hello, my name is Mrs Ferguson’.
I am the Indonesian teacher at St Patrick’s.
I would like to welcome all Foundation and any new students to St Patrick’s and I am very excited for you to begin learning about the fascinating country that is Indonesia!
Students participate in Indonesian with me on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays. We have a lot of fun singing, playing games and learning about the language and culture of Indonesia.
Recently, Foundation and Year One students have received a special postcard from their Year Five or Six Buddies, which tells them a little bit about Indonesia and hopefully gets them excited to learn more!
Junior families might like to start learning our special greeting songs, called ‘Selamat Pagi (Good Morning)’ and ‘Selamat Pagi Bu’ (Good Morning Mrs)’ at home. The following links will take you to the songs,
Sampai jumpa! See you soon!
Bu Ferguson.
Indonesian Cultural Ambassadors coming to St Patrick’s!
Introducing Bima and Benna, our Indonesian Cultural Ambassadors!
This year, St Patrick’s is participating in an Australian Government funded program called ILLA (Indonesian Language Learning Ambassadors).
The ILLA program provides Australian Government-funded scholars from Indonesia with an opportunity to directly engage with Australian schools – teachers and students – and learn first-hand about Australian culture, community, and classroom teaching practices. It also enables Ambassadors to share their skills and knowledge of the Indonesian language, culture, and customs and establish local Australian community connections.
Australian schools engaged in the program will benefit from passionate and engaged Indonesian Australian Government-funded scholars willing to share their language, knowledge, cultural perspective, and enthusiasm about Indonesia. School students involved with the program will improve their knowledge and understanding of Indonesia through direct experiences with an Ambassador.
We have been lucky enough to be matched with two Ambassadors who will each be making six full-day visits in our Indonesian and Music classrooms very soon. We greatly look forward to the opportunity of learning more about Indonesian culture and language with Bima and Benna.

Eureka Interschool Swimming Competition – February 21st, 2025
On Friday, February 21st, we were thrilled to take a talented squad of 13 children from Grades 4 to 6 to the Eureka Interschool Swimming Competition. These students proudly represented our school and demonstrated outstanding dedication, sportsmanship, and effort throughout the event.
We are incredibly proud of each participant’s performance. Several of our swimmers achieved Personal Best times, while others took on new challenges by using swimming blocks and completing the full 50-metre swim. All of our athletes showcased their determination and skills, and we couldn’t be more impressed with their hard work.
A special mention goes to our representative relay team: Billy Lynch, Lily Hills, Ted Gladman, and Will Stott. This team secured second place in the first heat of the 50-metre medley – a fantastic achievement!
Additionally, we are excited to announce that Lily, Ted, and Billy will be advancing to the next level of competition in Horsham. They will represent St. Patrick's in Breaststroke, Breaststroke, and Backstroke, respectively. We wish them the best of luck as they continue to shine in their swimming journeys.
A huge thank you to Chris Gladman for offering his support on the day and to all the parents and grandparents who came out to cheer for our swimmers. Your encouragement made this day even more special for our students.
Thank you again to all of our wonderful swimmers for their amazing efforts and determination. We are so proud of you!

Travis Price Visit
Last week the year one and two students had a visit from local artist Travis Price.
Travis spoke with the students about his art journey and showed us some of the many designs he has created.
Travis has worked with Nike, Mambo, Pearl Jam and Blink 182 just to name a few brands, he also creates art pieces based on Australian Towns. You may have even spotted one of Travis' murals around town!!
We are so excited to have a professional artis visit and can't wait to create our own 'Travis Price' Art.
Calm Kids Play Space
Starting this week, we're excited to introduce a new supervised, indoor play space on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during lunchtime. This calm, quiet area is designed for children to engage in activities like colouring, board games, Lego building, puzzles, and imaginative play.
This initiative aims to meet the diverse needs of all our students.
If you have any unused Lego at home donations would be welcome and greatly appreciated!
Guinea Pigs - Donations of Newspaper
If you have any old newspapers you no longer need, we’d love your donations to help keep our guinea pigs cozy!
