Clean Up Australia Day

Clean Up Australia Day, an initiative first started in 1990 by Ian Kiernan, AO, is on Sunday March 2nd. As Australia’s waste challenges continue to grow, we all need to step up and support solutions which move us towards a circular economy – where everything is a resource, and there is no such thing as waste.

Here at LPS, we encourage students to minimise the wrappers that they bring to school, and instead of ending up in landfill, we will be collecting all 10 cent drink containers for recycling, while making a little money along the way. We plan to put this money raised towards more sustainable actions here at LPS.

“When I can, I take my own containers and bottles to Providence Foods at Mountain Gate and refill them with ingredients and other house hold items such as laundry powder. I have reduced my plastic water significantly.”

Look at how Mrs Stokol is helping keep Australia clean and sustainable. Apart from recycling, Mrs Stokol, consistently uses a compost bin and worm farm, as well as giving their chooks scraps.
