Mental Health and Wellbeing at LPS

At Lysterfield Primary School, our Mental Health and Wellbeing team is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where students can thrive. We recognize that wellbeing plays a key role in learning and success, and we strive to support teachers to embed it into daily school life. Through proactive initiatives and meaningful interactions, we aim to support students in developing skills to manage emotions, build resilience, and form positive relationships.

We recognize that wellbeing is a shared responsibility, and we aim to actively collaborate with families and the wider community to strengthen support networks. By working together, we promote a culture where mental health is valued, supported, and nurtured—empowering our students to grow into confident, compassionate, and resilient individuals.

Referrals for student support

If you have concerns about your child’s mental health or wellbeing, the first step is to speak with their classroom teacher. Teachers also monitor student wellbeing and will reach out to parents if they have concerns. If needed, additional support can be provided through our Whole School Wellbeing Programs or classroom-based strategies. When further assistance is required, teachers may refer students for tailored support, including small group programs, school-based counselling, or external services. Parents will be informed and involved in this process.
