Year 12 Retreat
This week the year 12’s experienced our last school retreat of high school. In small groups, we shared the stories of our lives, opening up about challenges we've faced, defining moments that shaped us, and the lessons we've learned along the way. These deep conversations gave us the chance to connect with our peers, gaining a deeper appreciation for the experiences that have made each of us who we are today.
Over the 3 days, our cohort was privileged to be a part of several sessions, led by Luke and Damo from Passionist Youth, which helped us discover who we are as people, and aided in the growth of our relationships and connections with our peers and teachers. These sessions ranged from good-natured fun and laughs, to deep and thought-provoking conversations that evoked some beautiful emotions from the group. We can safely say that the entire cohort feels so privileged to be able to be a part of such a special program, and highly encourage all future year 12s to take the opportunity.
Our year 12 cohort would love to thank the Passionist Youth Retreat Team for an incredibly well-designed, engaging, safe, and most importantly successful retreat. Luke and Damo as instructors were fantastic role models for everyone and always acted with respect and vulnerability towards the group. Damo’s singing and strumming should also not go unnoticed. In summary regarding the organisation, the student leadership at Mary Mackillop could not praise them enough and highly recommend them to any schools looking for retreat options. Thank you so much, Passionist Youth Retreat Team. https://www.passionistyouth.com.au/

Year 8 Camp
Last week, our Year 8 students enjoyed an action-packed three days at Waratah Bay. The camp was filled with exciting activities including aeroball, flying fish, high and low ropes, surfing, nighttime walks, and a campfire liturgy. Adventures were had, and unforgettable memories were made! A big thank you to all the students and staff for their enthusiastic participation and for making the camp such a success!
School Resource Centre
It’s great to be back at school again and to see so many familiar faces and plenty of new ones too.
This February we are determined to get as many overdue books returned to the library as we can. We have declared an “Overdue Book Amnesty” for February. This means we will happily accept any overdue items, without questions asked, and the borrower will receive a lolly. Their name will also go in the draw for a canteen voucher.
We also have a “Pet Photo Competition” running. Voting will begin on the 20th of February for the cutest pet and the funniest pet. Already our notice board is filled with lots of pictures of cute and funny furry and feathered friends. Keep them coming in!
Pictured are some of the new items in the library, along with our new Year 7s enjoying the library space. And of course, there’s always time for a quick game of chess in the library!
Medical Information Confirmation for Parents of Years 9, 10, and 11 Students
Parents of students in Years 9, 10, and 11 are required to check and confirm that the medical information on file is accurate. The next time these parents log in to PAM, they will receive a notification prompting them to confirm the medical details. This notification will appear each time they log in until confirmation is completed.
Please note that parents of students in Years 7, 8, and 12 are not included in this request, as they were previously asked to verify medical information for upcoming camps.
