Kitchen Garden Academy

This week in the Kitchen Garden Academy we looked at all the ways you can grow your vegetables.

We had Carrot seeds, Pak Choi seedlings, and Zucchini plants.

Carrot seeds are very tiny.  We planted ours in a row with a labelled stick at each end so we knew where we planted them.

We have many little Pak Choi Seedlings and we had to handle them with care.  We watered them in well so we hope they will grow so we can eat them soon.

We planted 4 zucchini plants.

Last week we dug over the garden beds and pulled out weeds in preparation for planting this week.

Also this week, as our tomato plant was coming to the end of its fruiting cycle we picked some of the older tomatoes and squeezed out the seeds.  We are drying the seeds on paper towels and hoping they will store well so we can plant them in Spring.

We had time after planting to make our snack before play.  We made our own Hummus and ate it with carrots and crackers.  It was very tasty. Check out our recipe below.
