Year 2/3

Literacy- This week we have taken a look at persuasive texts. Students have read some persuasive texts and discussed their persuasive elements. Students have also had a go at producing their own persuasive writing pieces, aiming to convince their reader with rhetorical questions, strong emotive language and their ideas clearly organised paragraphs. In reading, we have been developing our oral reading skills by reading aloud to the class. With a focus on fluency and expression, students have done a great job of projecting their voice and decoding any unknown words.
Maths - We have begun learning about data in maths. Over the next couple of weeks we will look more closely into how we collect, use and represent data in different ways. We will be representing our data using column and picture graphs, and interpreting the results of these displays. We have continued to work on our multiplication fluency with our weekly focus on a set of times tables.
ICT - Over the last three weeks we have used a range of online resources to assist with our learning. We are using the staples: Typing Club, Xtra Math and Times Tables Rockstars as well as the google suit (slides and sheets) and we have also had plenty of practice using the online NAPLAN platform in preparation for the grade 3’s completing their NAPLAN over the next week.
Celebration Day- On the 21st of February the whole school celebrated a fantastic start to the school year with some games on the oval, run by the Grade 6’s. The students loved being out in the sun, getting involved in a variety of different games and representing their house colour with all their friends.
SAKG- Sending a big thank you again to all of our parent helpers, for your valuable support and assistance with the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program. Your time, effort, and enthusiasm are all greatly appreciated and help to foster a real love of cooking for the students. We couldn’t do it without you!
