Assistant Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,
I'm pleased to announce that next week, Whitehorse Primary School is launching The Stand-Up Project (SUP), an initiative aimed at reducing bullying, discrimination, and harassment through student voice and leadership. This program enables students to identify the issues affecting them and to teach their own Upstander strategies to younger students, their teachers, and parents.
Initially, all Grade 5/6 students will learn about the drivers and impacts of poor behaviour and how to be an effective and safe Upstander. Selected students from this group will then create and deliver their own class plans to younger students, teachers, and parents.
This means 2–3 Grade 5/6 students will be responsible for teaching younger students about Upstanding. It is important that we all support these students by helping them to manage student behaviour and reinforcing the Upstander message.
More detailed information about SUP is available on their website at www.thestandupproject.com
Research shows that active support from teachers and parents for programs like SUP significantly enhance behavioural improvement and help create a safer school environment.
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to improving our school community.
Warm regards,
Vivienne Tia – Grade 5/6 Team Leader
Lisa Hume – Wellbeing Leader
Jo Majdan – Assistant Principal
