A Big Deal!

Starting anything new is a big deal!
Whether you are a student starting a new school, an adult starting a new job, a teenager learning to drive for the first time or a new member of a sporting team, taking that first step requires courage and commitment.
Starting a new school in the 1970s was a big deal!
It was a big deal for the parents who prayerfully planned for the school’s beginning and took a huge leap of faith, unsure of what their vision would become 50 years later.
It was a big deal for the parents of the first students, hopeful for the way their children would be transformed and shaped by Christian Education as they learned and played. It was a big deal for the staff who realised their call and vocation in education, with a heart to see students taught about the wonder of God and His world.
It was a big deal too for the 90 students who turned up on that first day – ready to make new friends, learn new things and turn a dream into a place of awe, thinking and creativity. Courage and commitment were required by each one, and how grateful we are today for their strength of character and determination – a legacy that we continue to build upon in 2025!
Starting at DCC in 2025 is a big deal!
This year, we have welcomed 91 Preps and 28 new students in Years 1 to 6. For every single one of them and their families, it’s been a big deal. In just a few short weeks, they have met new teachers, made new friends, attended various specialist lessons, visited the Primary library and for most, attended a Primary Assembly.
Each one of these is a big deal! For some, they have navigated their way to First Aid, lots have enjoyed a treat from the canteen, many have had new adventures on our playground and for others, mastering Kiss ‘n Drop has been a big deal.
As a community, we are so glad that each one of them are here with us, and we have enjoyed getting to know them over these first few weeks of term. We are proud of their courage and commitment, giving their best to a new school environment and we give thanks to God for every single one.
Celebrating God’s grace is a big deal!
We look forward to celebrating the start of our 50-year story at this week’s Founder’s Day assembly – bringing former board members, staff, parents and students together with our current Primary and Secondary community. As we celebrate God’s grace throughout our 50 years, and for the courage and commitment evidently woven into our DCC story by the faithful, would you join us in giving thanks for our school and all that God continues to do by His grace in and through the transformative work of Christian Education every day.
