WELCOME
Welcome to another year of sporting opportunities for 2025. Miss Devlin and Mrs Col will take on their same roles as Sport Teachers and Sport Coordinators of the school for 2025. Miss Devlin will be teaching the PE syllabus with all classes across 5 days and Mrs Col will be present on Mondays. At St Patrick's we will provide opportunities that range from SCS Representative Pathways, SCS Interschool Sport, Catholic Schools NSW endorsed gala and development days, SCS sport holiday activities and finally invitational gala days from our local national sporting organisations.
Representative Trials
Our students have already participated in multiple sporting trials for the sporting calendar year. Recently we had 19 students attend the Conference 3 Swimming Trial at Sutherland Leisure Centre. Congratulations to Evie E, Ethan G, Hugo H, Dennis L, Beatriz P, Hudson S, Lucy T, Davis V and Rebecca W who have all progressed to the Sydney Swimming Trial on Monday 24th March.
Congratulations to Jack C who was successful in progressing to the Sydney Rugby League Trials. Well done Jack.
Lenny A, Beau B, Thomas G, Owen A, Noah VD, Leila U, Ella F, Rebecca W and Lana B recently trialed at the Conference 3 trials and we are pleased to announce that Lenny A, Lana B and Rebecca W have progressed to the Sydney Football trial on March 31st.
Lila M also attended the Conference 3 Netball trials. What a great effort from Lila who has been selected to attend the Sydney Netball trials held in week 8. Lila also made it back to school just in time for school photos! We are so proud of you. Xavier E has also progressed to the MacKillop Hockey trial held in Goulburn towards the end of March while Noah VD competes at Mackillop AFL on March 25th. Finally Kairo B, Owen S and Ryan M will give it their best at the Sydney Softball trials next week. Good luck boys.
Thank you to those students who have already represented us so proudly and good luck to any of our students who are trialing in the coming weeks.
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
Our Athletics Carnival is fast approaching. Please find attached information regarding our annual school Athletics Carnival. This notification provides details about the event and in the coming week we will seek permission for your child's attendance. After having a thorough read of the document and if your child is competing in any timed/measured events, please fill out which specific events they will trial for using the Timed/Measured Event Registration Form which will close on Thursday 20th March. If your child is participating in some or all of the grade events, you do not need to fill out any forms as stated in the information attached.
OPTIONAL CROSS COUNTRY
Please find attached the details for our annual School Cross Country Trial held on Monday 10th March 2025 (week 6) at Waratah Upper and Lower Playing fields, Sutherland. This is an optional event for eligible students (eligibility detailed in the attached document). To enter this event, please register your child via this Nomination Form which will close on Friday 28th February. Please ensure you have read the attached document before filling out the nomination form. After the closing date, a COMPASS event will be shared with you where all future correspondence will take place for this event. If you have any questions regarding this event please email the school.
NRL TACKLE ONLY GALA DAY
Registrations have now closed for this tackle gala day which was shared with our Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students. Any registered students must now provide consent via COMPASS where all further details regarding this gala day will be shared. We hope you all have an enjoyable day with your school friends on Thursday 6th March at Anzac Oval, Engadine. NRL are very excited to get this gala day underway.
SCS Sporting Pathways - Representative
The Representative Pathway Sports will continue into Term 1 2025 with many sports already in the MacKillop Trial stage. This is because the representative sport calendar season with Sydney Catholic Schools runs from Term 4 2024 to Term 3 2025.
Year 5 and Year 6 students have the opportunity to represent St Patrick’s at trials to progress through the pathway system. The sports they will be able to trial for are varied and many are open to both boys and girls.
To be considered for selection to represent St Patrick’s students requires experience and to be playing the sport as a registered player at a high level of skill outside of school. This should be in the form of a regular, structured rep, Division 1 or equivalent A level competition. Parents had the opportunity to nominate their child via an electronic form last year. This form will be re-sent during Term 3 2025 to gather any new or updated information regarding your child's sport involvement outside of school. Nominations for this sports calendar season have closed as trials have commenced.
When a student attends a Conference Pathway Sporting event it is important that they take the documentation supplied by the school with them. Parents will also need to provide consent via COMPASS. Your child may not be allowed to compete without the form. Your child will also be given a representative St Patrick's Jersey/Shirt to wear in which they will need to wash and return after the trial.
If there is a change in your child's attendance to one of these events please email amanda.col@syd.catholic.edu.au so I can make the necessary arrangements to withdraw your child from this event. This is to ensure an accurate record on COMPASS and for the smooth running of the trial event.
COMMUNITY SPORT
Lila has been busy these last two weekends competing in the Junior State Cup Oz tag tournament in Penrith and also the NSW State Cup Touch Football tournament in Wagga.
Lila was Captain of her Cronulla 11's Representative Oz tag team and her team played extremely well making it to the Grand Final. They lost 2-0 to Central Coast and were named Runners Up in NSW. A tremendous achievement to win the silver medal.
Lila then played in the Cronulla 12's Representative Touch Football team and at 10 years of age was one of the youngest players in her team. The team went undefeated and were ranked first overall. Unfortunately they lost in the quarter final to Griffith however Lila is looking forward to playing in this age group again in 2026.
