Enjoying Sport in the Winter Sunshine
The cooler months have certainly not slowed down the sporting opportunities for our students. Across the school, students have been embracing the chance to be active, develop their skills and represent St Edward’s with pride, both during and outside of school hours.
Many students recently participated in our Athletics Trials day, demonstrating great determination, sportsmanship and enthusiasm as they competed for a finals position in track and field events. It was wonderful to hear how well our students support one another and celebrate personal achievements.
Our younger students have also been benefiting from the McCarthy Catholic College Gross Motor Program. These sessions provide valuable opportunities for students to develop coordination, balance and movement skills whilst building confidence through fun and engaging activities. We are grateful to the staff and students from McCarthy for their support in delivering this wonderful program.
Outside of school, several St Ed's students have enjoyed success in local sporting competitions. Congratulations to those students who recently competed in OzTag finals. It was wonderful to witness great teamwork, resilience and excellent sportsmanship among our team.
I know we have teams that have progressed to the Basketball semi-finals. I wish them every success in the next stage of the competition.
Sport continues to play an important role in helping students develop confidence, perseverance, teamwork and healthy lifestyles. It has been wonderful to see so many students making the most of the opportunities available and proudly representing themselves, their families and our school community.
Netball Success Story
It was lovely to be informed that our very own St Edward's Cobras netball team were named as 'Team of the Week' for Round 5 by Tamworth Netball Association!
Each week, a team is recognised for showing teamwork, sportsmanship, positivity and heart. This is truly ALL the good things that make netball such a great sport.
Well done to: Mia, Aria, Alexa, Lilly, Elouise, Lucy, Ella, Aleah and Arabella.
Have a wonderful week.
Keep smiling,
Alison Hatton
