Student Engagement and Wellbeing 

Dear Wimba Families and Students, 

 

It's been a fantastic term, with lots of learning, enthusiasm and positive energy. It has been wonderful to see students following their routines, actively engaging in their learning and consistently demonstrating our school values in the classroom and around the school. 

We hope you all have a wonderful break and we look forward to another term filled with growth, achievement and memorable experiences for all of our students. 

 

During Week 9, our teachers will be working through the National Consistent collection of Data. (NCCD). 

 

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)

 

Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).

 

Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:

  • year of schooling
  • category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional
  • level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.

 

This information assists schools to:

  • formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools 
  • consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools
  • develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.

 

The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.

 

The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information.

Wally the Wallaby has been having a wonderful time visiting the classrooms that have achieved the highest attendance over each two-week period! Wally loves celebrating students who come to school every day, ready to learn and participate. 

Congratulations to our winning classes for having 95% attendance. Keep up the great work! Wally is looking forward to visiting many more classrooms throughout the term!

Breakfast Club

Breakfast club has continued to be a great start to our students' mornings. Students enjoy grabbing something to eat before heading to their classrooms.

 

This is a reminder that Breakfast Club is open from 8:30 - 8:40am on Tuesday and Fridays. We would like all students to start heading to class from 8:40am. 

We would also like to thank our Parent Volunteers for helping and supporting our teachers with Breakfast Club. 

 

School Uniform

As the weather becomes colder during Terms 2 and 3, please ensure your child is dressed warmly and wears the full school uniform each day. Wearing the correct uniform is compulsory and helps promote pride, a sense of belonging, and a positive school culture. 

 

We understand that purchasing uniforms can sometimes place financial pressure on families. If you require assistance, our school can support eligible families through State Schools' Relief, which provides help with school uniforms and other essential items.
