HSIE & Science
I'm sure many of our families have heard plenty of stories about ancient civilisations at home these past few weeks! This term, students from K–6 have been learning about a range of fascinating ancient cultures. Students in K–2 have been exploring the worlds of China, Egypt, Greece and Rome, while students in Years 3–6 have been investigating the Inca, Aztec and Maya civilisations of Mesoamerica and the Andes.
As part of our K–6 Take, Shape and Create unit, students have also been investigating the properties of different materials, including paper, plastic, wood, cardboard and playdough. Our clever and creative students came up with a wonderful idea to combine these two areas of learning.
To conclude the term, each student will design and build a sculpture or model inspired by a civilisation they have studied. We are excited to showcase their creations in a special exhibition at the end of the term, and all families will be invited to attend. Keep an eye out for further details and the exhibition date in the coming weeks!
