Welcome to the Koala Class!

Literacy

In Literacy, students are continuing to build their understanding of graphemes and phonemes. Our Kindergarten students are focusing on single phonemes, while Year 1 students are exploring more complex combinations such as digraphs, split vowel digraphs, and trigraphs. We use a combination of explicit instruction, group activities, and independent practice to help students gain a deeper understanding of these important elements of reading and writing.

Maths

In Mathematics, Kindergarten continues to build their understanding of number combinations up to 10, as well as strategies for working out 'how many more' are needed to reach a certain number. Year 1 students are learning to order larger numbers from smallest to largest. We are also focusing on measurement, using comparative language and real-world examples. This hands-on approach to learning has really engaged our students and encouraged them to apply their skills in practical ways.
