Northern Schools Steer Comp

Last week, 21 enthusiastic Agriculture students from Glen Innes High School showcased their skills at the Northern Schools Steer Competition in Walcha. Despite the weather, the students managed to get through the parader classes before a storm unfortunately washed out the junior judging section.
Our students performed exceptionally well, bringing home numerous ribbons and accolades. Highlights included:
- Year 7/8 Division: Skye McIndoe won her class and was awarded Reserve Champion Stage 4. Similarly, Suzie Lockwood achieved the same results in the Year 11/12 division.
- Year 9/10 Division: Patrick Wright, Dustin McBain, and Naishia Grob each won their individual heats, progressing to the finals. In an impressive display of skill, all three Glen Innes students were pulled forward to the top 4 in a field of 13. Patrick Wright was crowned Champion and went on to win the coveted “Grand Champion Parader” – a remarkable achievement considering approximately 200 students from 20 different schools competed. WELL DONE PAT!!
In the cattle classes, our school also performed admirably in large classes:
- Joey placed 2nd in Class 3 (441–480 kg)
- Veneer placed 5th in Class 4 (481–520 kg)
- Bruno placed 5th in Class 7 (601–640 kg)
We now eagerly await the final carcass results over the coming days. Congratulations to all students for their outstanding representation of Glen Innes High School. Your dedication and hard work truly shone through at this prestigious event. And special thankyou to Suzie Lockwood for taking photos throughout the event.
