WELLBEING

There has been a lot of discussion in the media recently about the new social media age restrictions coming into effect on 10 December. With this in mind—and with the holidays approaching—many of us may be thinking about our children’s screen time and their exposure to social media.

Today, I’m sharing three helpful links for families. The first is from the eSafety Commissioner, which explains the Australian Government’s new restrictions for children under the age of 16. The other two sites—the Alannah & Madeline Foundation and Screen Sanity Australia—offer practical guidance for parents, schools and children on using screens in healthy and positive ways.

I hope you find these resources useful as you support your children’s digital wellbeing.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Wow, Term 4 is almost finished, and we look forward to another fantastic year in PE in 2026. Two wonderful basketball coaches from the Mc Kinnon Basketball Association came to our school to run basketball clinics, over a three-week period. All students really enjoyed the experience and were super engaged, well done everyone!

A big shout out to Dylan Jayawardane who was part of a relay team for his local athletics club, who placed third in their regional relay championships. Well done Dylan ! I'm hoping you can help me train our school relay teams in 2026.

On Monday, 15th December, we will have 4 sports coaches at our school for a whole school sports incursion day. Adrian from Gecko Sports will be running the day and students will take part in 4 different activities. The activities are: Ultimate Frisbee, Survivor Team work challenges, Soccer and Basketball. Please refer to the Gecko Sports Day post for the timetable on Compass, in the Upcoming Events section.

Looking forward to 2026 in PE, we will have our schools Athletics Carnival in the last week of Term 1 and our school Cross Country event in the first week of Term 2. There will be training for cross country before school in Term 1. Athletics training will take place during PE lessons.

Summer Gala will also take place during Term 1 and students will train for their team sport during 5/6 PE lessons.

I hope all students and families have a wonderful school holiday and take the chance to practice their sports skills and fitness in preparation for achieving fantastic results in 2026.

PERFORMING ARTS

End-of-Year Concert/Assembly

Students will be celebrating the end of another successful year at our End-of-Year School Concert on Tuesday, 16 December, from 9:00–11:00 am in The Huddle.

The concert is a wonderful opportunity for teachers and students to come together and reflect on their year. By this stage, each class has become a close-knit community, and the concert allows them to celebrate that bond while acknowledging the year’s end.

Classes have chosen performances to share with one another and with the broader school community. They are working hard with their teachers—and with me—to polish their items.

We warmly invite all members of our school community to join us and share in this special celebration.
