Chairman's Message

Rev. Andrew Cunningham, Chair of Council

2025 School Council Report

We are at the end of another school year that has brought with it the usual highs and lows of school life. The expected and the unexpected. Thankfully, we all work together as a whole community to make the school run smoothly. I acknowledge the role that is played by everyone – students, staff, families, volunteers and the many others who are involved in the life of the school. Without each group’s input, we would struggle to work effectively and to achieve our aims. Thank you for the part that you play.

I am writing on behalf of the School Council, which in our structure, is the Board of Directors for the school company. The School Council, which is a group of people who are mostly parents, have a strong desire that this school is governed well, is sustainable into the future, and that it continues to provide a wonderful environment for students and staff in the years ahead.

Council's role is to ensure the ongoing success and sustainability of the school. This is in a general sense but more specifically across the areas of; financial sustainability, the education experience, and that we enable a vibrant community for all. This encompasses all students, teachers, non-academic staff and parents. With this end in mind, the School Council engaged a consultant throughout this year to lead the implementation of the strategic plan, with a clear goal of maintaining the DNA of Kinross Wolaroi School, whilst also positioning the school to be in a stronger and sustainable financial position moving forward.

A significant focus of the School Council during 2025 has been the selection of a new Principal for the school. This involved a broad search and received a significant number of quality applicants. We look forward to welcoming Mr Timothy Kelly into the role in 2026.

I want to acknowledge Dr Andrew Parry, whose time at Kinross Wolaroi has been marked by a deep commitment to our students, a clear vision for the School’s future, and an unwavering belief in the power of education to shape character as well as minds. He has led with integrity, calm and courage – through times of growth, times of challenge, and times of great change – always keeping the wellbeing and learning of our young people at the centre.

He leaves behind a stronger, kinder and more confident School – one that is better prepared for the future.

Along with the Principal, we work very closely the Executive Director of Corporate and Governance, Mr Trevor Delbridge. I thank him and acknowledge his outstanding dedication and skill.

Thank you also to all of the wonderful staff for whom employment at this school is not just a job but is a passion.

Finally, I would like to acknowledge the time that is given, and the skill that is put to work by each member of Council – all of it in a voluntary capacity.

This year we welcomed to the School Council Dr Anna Elder and Mr Greg Hunt. They have already begun to make significant contributions to our governance, and I look forward to continuing to work with them for the benefit of this great school.

In the last year, the School Council accepted the resignation of Dr Radha Srikanth, who has served on the Council for four years. She contributed significantly to the governance of the school with a particular focus on student and staff wellbeing, and we record our thanks.

I wish you all wonderful Christmas and New Year. We on the School Council look forward to working closely with you next year for the good of the students and wider Kinross Wolaroi community.
