Dear Principals,

Happy last week of 2025!

If it hasn’t happened already, I imagine this week brings half-emptied book tubs, neatly stacked chair piles, wiped-clean whiteboards, overflowing lost-property corners finally sorted, end-of-year displays carefully taken down, and that feeling of empty school grounds as staff begin to make their way to their summer holiday places (soon) for a relaxing break.

Thank you for taking time to read my fortnightly submissions, for downloading resources for your teams and for the ongoing commitment you show to strengthening literacy practices across your school. Well done to you and your efforts this year in leading your school throughout 2025 with such dedication.

Rob Bennetts

Principal –Barwon Heads Primary School, VIC

🎙 In this episode of the ‘Multidimensional (literacy) Magic’ podcast, I chat with Rob Bennetts from Barwon Heads PS about how strong community connections, well-structured literacy blocks and collaborative leadership are driving literacy growth across the school.

We explore how parental involvement, instructional coaching and evidence-based practice are shaping a reflective, responsive teaching culture.

Rob shares how effective professional learning mirrors student learning- hands-on, purposeful and grounded in practice- and why ongoing improvement, teacher support and community engagement are key to student success.

Rob’s wise words:

“It’s a good reflective process.”

Merry Christmas and best wishes for a very well-deserved holiday break.
