Literacy

Kindergarten students are continuing their learning about compound sentences. They are beginning to identify independent clauses, which are sentence parts that can stand alone. This foundational skill helps them build more complex and meaningful sentences as they develop their writing.

Year 2 students are also focusing on compound sentences. They are working on using interesting and descriptive words to make their writing engaging and capture the reader’s attention. Encouraging creativity in their language supports their overall communication skills.

Maths

Our Kindergarten students have been learning and recalling number bonds to 10. Understanding number bonds is important because it helps children see how numbers can be split and combined, building a strong foundation for addition and subtraction.

Year 2 students have been explicitly taught the jump strategy in addition and subtraction and are consolidating their learning in our daily maths reviews. This strategy encourages students to break numbers into parts and jump along a number line to find answers. Learning the Jump Strategy is valuable as it develops number sense, helps with understanding place value, and improves calculation skills, enabling students to tackle more complex maths problems with ease.

We are growing in confidence every day!
