Principals Message

As we begin Week 6 and roll over into the 2026 academic year, Narrandera High School continues to offer a breadth of curriculum for our students which has included some Stage 6 courses being offered for the first time.

This term, our Stage 6 students have commenced their Preliminary HSC studies with great enthusiasm. We are offering 15 subjects to our 88 Stage 6 students, providing a broad and challenging curriculum to support their learning pathways.

This year, we have introduced two new Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses: Furnishings and Business Services. These courses offer practical skills and experience that will prepare our students for future employment opportunities and further study. Software Engineering is also being offered for the first time. This course replaces Software Design and Development. Additionally, Aboriginal Studies has returned to our curriculum after several years, enriching our cultural understanding and appreciation across the school community.

Meanwhile, our Year 9 students have begun their electives for the first time this year. We are delighted to offer 11 diverse subjects across three elective lines. These include offerings from Technology and Applied Studies (TAS), Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE), Creative Arts, Agriculture, and Physical Education. This wide range provides students with the opportunity to explore their interests and develop new skills.

We see the significant benefits that come from providing our students with choice in their electives. When students select subjects that genuinely interest them, we see greater engagement and enthusiasm in the classroom. This personalised approach empowers them to explore their passions and develop skills that will serve them well beyond school.

As we move toward the end of the 2025 school year, we have many wonderful opportunities to celebrate the achievements of our students across academic, sporting, and cultural areas. Our final formal assembly for the year will be held on Thursday, 4 December, where we will acknowledge individual and collective accomplishments. Following this, our Presentation Night will take place on Tuesday, 9 December. This special event is an important occasion for our school community to honour excellence and dedication.

I encourage all families to participate in these events as we come together to recognise the hard work and spirit of our students in 2025.
