SCIENCEWORKS
On Monday, we went to ScienceWorks!
The children popped on their vests and ventured towards the bus. Once on the bus, the children enjoyed watching the sites of the world around them. Some of us even noticed the hundreds of fruit bats that were hanging in the trees along the eastern freeway in Kew!
When we arrived at ScienceWorks, we had a toilet break and enjoyed some morning tea. We then popped our bags into the lockers provided, and ventured to the "Ground Up", area. This area was STEM focused - encouraging the children to explore different pully systems, pipes and climbing equipment.
We then moved into the Sportsworks section of the museum, which has many different interactive exhibits exploring the human body, exercise and agility. A highlight from the children was the light wall game, the Cathy Freeman running race, wheelchair racing and the rock-climbing wall.
We then had a break for some lunch and ventured to the main event - "What's With The Weather?". The children sat in a special theatre and learnt about the different elements that make weather such as thunder, clouds, rain and more! Some of our children were invited to be involved in the experiments which was so exciting.
At the end of the experience, we were able to witness a demonstration of lightening - IT WAS SO LOUD! We were instructed to cover our ears, and thankfully we did!
A big thank you to Felicia, Kate, Laura, Os, Evan, Rosie, Jennifer, Bee and Sakis for being amazing parent helpers for the day!
