Literacy
This week, we explored the /i/ sound through different spelling patterns, including the trigraph igh, the digraph ie, and y at the end of a word. Students had fun discovering how these sounds appear in words and practised reading and writing them in a range of activities. We also enjoyed a creative writing challenge where students chose their own adventure using words with our new sound patterns. Their imaginations were on full display! To finish off the week, students proudly completed their very own Mo Willems–inspired books titled “Don’t Let the Pigeon…” — a highlight of our author study. They were excited to share their hilarious and creative pigeon stories.
Mathematics
In Maths, students explored capacity through hands-on investigations. They compared and measured how much different containers could hold using informal units such as teddy bears, pom poms, and unifix blocks. Students worked collaboratively to predict, compare, and test their ideas, developing their mathematical language using terms like full, empty, holds more, and holds less.
Inquiry
We are incredibly proud of our curious creators! This week, students presented their imaginary animals to their peers, showcasing their posters, labelled diagrams, and hand-made sculptures. They spoke confidently about their animal’s features, habitats, and behaviours. Their creativity and enthusiasm shone through every presentation, and it was wonderful to see how much effort they put into their designs.
Thanks,
