Dear Families,
Welcome to Week Seven! With only four weeks left of the school year, we’re heading into a very busy and exciting time. Students are continuing to work hard, and there are lots of events, activities, and celebrations coming up as we move towards the end of term. Thank you for your ongoing support during this busy period — it helps make these final weeks smooth and enjoyable for everyone.
Athletic's Day Your child will now have their house colours for Athletic's Day. Please check with them as they are able to wear their house colours or their sports uniform.
Friendly Reminder: Please ensure your child is in the correct school uniform and has their name on items that come off and on during the day. This includes jumpers and jackets. We have a lot of lost property at school to check if needed.
Christmas Carols: Below is the song we will be performing. If you could practise at home, that would be great!
This week we learnt about:
Religious Education: This week, we have been learning how churches show that Advent has begun and how Catholics prepare for Christmas together. Students explored the meaning of the Advent wreath and discussed how each candle represents a special theme. We focused on the first candle, which symbolises hope, and talked about ways we can bring hope to others during this season.

Mathematics: In Maths, we have been learning about location and mapping skills. Students have been practising how to read and follow maps, use directional language such as left, right, north, south, east and west, and describe the position of objects. We have also been exploring real-world examples, including maps of places like zoos, to help students understand how these skills are used in everyday situations.

English: In English, we are continuing our work on narrative writing. Students are learning how to structure a story with a clear beginning, middle and end, and how to include descriptive details to engage the reader. We are still reading The Stone Lion as our model text, using it to explore strong characters, interesting problems and meaningful resolutions. Students are now beginning to plan and write their own narratives using these features.

Auslan: We are doing unit 8 in Auslan which looks at different sea animals.

Social & Emotional Learning: This week we are revisting Help-Seeking for someone in need. Students will discuss how they know someone needs help and what they can do. Next week, we will have a incursion called KidsROAR.

Integrated Studies: In Integrated Studies, we have been learning about kindness and community. To show appreciation to the Grade Fours, students made protein balls for them to enjoy and wrote messages of love and encouragement. This activity helped us celebrate the idea of caring for others and strengthening connections between our school communities.
