5/6 CLASSROOM

Thanks Miss Davidson
We would like to thank Miss Davidson for being our Student Teacher over the past four weeks. It has been a pleasure having her in our class and benefiting from her knowledge, expertise, and warm, friendly personality. We wish Miss Davidson all the very best as she continues her teaching degree and future career in education.
English
Students have been working hard on crafting a persuasive letter to the Director of the Arctic Council, advocating for urgent action to protect the polar bears and preserve their fragile Arctic habitat. So far, they have written a powerful introduction and carefully planned their first body paragraph, ensuring their arguments are clear and well supported. Throughout the process, students have been focusing on using a variety of persuasive devices, including strong vocabulary, effective connectives, and a balance of independent and dependent clauses to enhance the flow of their writing. We are incredibly proud of their effort and creativity, and we can’t wait to share their completed letters in the coming weeks.
Maths
In Mathematics, our learning has focused on data and graphing. Students have explored how information can be organised in data tables and identified the types of data that can be represented and interpreted through graphs. Using iPads, they transferred their data into Excel to create both column and line graphs, adding clear titles and accurately labelling each axis. A big thank you to Mr Kerrins, who introduced our graphing work in STEAM and shared some excellent tips and tricks for using Excel effectively.
Grade 6 Photo Challenge
As a fun and creative challenge for Term 4, our Grade 6 students have embarked on a weekly photo challenge, where they are given a new theme each week to inspire their photography. This activity encourages students to think critically about composition, perspective, and meaning while expressing their individuality through visual storytelling. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm, creativity, and teamwork as they collaborate to capture thoughtful and engaging images. The collection of photos produced through this challenge will be proudly showcased during our end-of-year Graduation Mass, highlighting the students’ talents and celebrating their final year of primary school.
