Foundation News

What a fantastic and action packed term we have had in the Foundation classroom! This term has been full of rich learning experiences, special events, and wonderful growth across all areas of the curriculum.

We have consolidated so much of our learning while also enjoying a number of exciting activities, including swimming lessons, our whole-school excursion to Echuca, which featured a fascinating visit to Scienceworks and a memorable paddle steamer ride. We also had our Junior School excursion to Billabong Ranch. The students have also been busy preparing for our school concert and absolutely loved a very special surprise visit from some ducks this week!

A major focus this term has been our writing. We are incredibly proud of the progress each student has made. Our phonics program has supported students to become confident, capable young writers, and their developed knowledge of letter names and sounds have strengthened all areas of literacy. Below are some wonderful writing samples that showcase their growing skills and creativity.

In Mathematics, students have been highly engaged in a wide range of hands-on and practical learning experiences. Our Maths Groups continue to be a highlight of the week, with students enjoying creative building tasks, problem-solving challenges, and activities that deepen their understanding of numbers and patterns. The children have particularly enjoyed Daily 10 addition challenges, counting practice, Number blocks activities, which have helped build confidence and strengthen their foundational numeracy skills.

We are incredibly proud of the growth, enthusiasm, and dedication shown by all students this term. Foundation has been buzzing with curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning, and we look forward to continuing this momentum.
