Kinder/Year 1

History is all about developing a sense of awe and wonder about our world and about the past, and we have certainly investigated some incredible ancient sites and traditions through sharing stories, myths and legends from China and beyond. A cornerstone of our unit was the hands-on application of historical knowledge; making artefacts, re-enacting stories and writing about our learning. One of the most loved activities we did this term was building a section of the Great Wall of China with our LEGO kits.
Using negotiated success criteria, students undertook a collaborative project: the design and assembly of a section of the Great Wall of China and here are our results! Our imaginations shine through when we get to bring our ideas to life in learning experiences like this.
We commend the students for their engagement and collaborative effort throughout this unit, which has substantially advanced their understanding and appreciation of global historical sites and cultural traditions.
