FARM

Johannes.Haumann@education.wa.edu.au

It has been another busy but very successful week on the farm. One of the highlights was the arrival of our new Ag Commander cattle crush, which will replace the older model currently used at the dairy.

There was also plenty of excitement in the lead-up to the Dinninup Show, which took on Tuesday. All our Year 10s and some Year 11s attended the show, competing in fleece, Merino, meat sheep, grain and beef judging, as well as shearing.

A big thank you to all staff involved on the day and in the weeks leading up to the show for your hard work and extra effort.  It’s greatly appreciated.

Great job, boys.

Hay Season

We’re fortunate to still have moisture in the ground and grateful for the late rain we’ve been receiving. It does come with the challenge of fitting in silage and hay cutting — but that’s all part of the joys of farming. Our paddocks are yielding good quantities of silage and hay, which is great to see.

Shearing

We are now onto shearing our lambs, and our Advanced Wool-Handling students are involved in the shearing and wool handling.

All Technical Officers are continuing to focus on delivering relevant training and getting the students signed off on assessments before the end of the year.
