Year 10 Science Investigations

Real-World Research

This term, our Year 10 Science students have embraced the challenge of becoming real-world researchers. Each student selected a scientific question of personal interest, exploring fields such as Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Psychology, and Forensics. From examining how colour influences mood to investigating the behavioural responses of slugs to different foods, their topics were as diverse as they were creative.

Over four weeks, students carefully designed their methodologies—identifying variables, assessing potential risks, and considering ethical implications. They then conducted their experiments and analysed the data they collected, drawing meaningful conclusions from their findings.

The inquiry process culminated in the creation of professional scientific posters, submitted as their final assessment. Through this hands-on experience, students developed essential skills in critical thinking, data analysis, and scientific communication.

Most importantly, they discovered how scientific research can help us better understand the world around us and its everyday applications.

We are incredibly proud of the curiosity, diligence, and innovation shown by our budding scientists!
