Grade 5/6 Classroom Update
It has been a productive and engaging time in our Grade 5/6 rooms, with students working hard across all areas of learning.
In Reading, we have been honing our skills in justifying opinions and judgements with evidence from the text. Students are learning to look closely, think critically, and clearly support their ideas during discussions and written responses.
In Writing, our Grade 6 students have been crafting their autobiographies, reflecting on their experiences and developing their author’s voice. Our Grade 5 students have been confidently presenting their 2026 leadership speeches, showcasing their communication skills and readiness for new challenges next year.
In Numeracy, we have been focusing on percentages and fractions, exploring how they connect and applying these skills to real-world problems. Students have been discussing strategies, solving challenges, and deepening their mathematical understanding.
We are proud of the effort students are showing and look forward to continuing to work to our very best right through to the end of the year.
In the last few weeks, students have been showcasing their learning about our Asian neighbours by creating their own websites. Each site highlights a chosen country’s geography, culture, trade connections, and daily life. Students have worked creatively to combine research, images, and interactive features to inform and engage their audience. It’s been wonderful to see their digital skills and global understanding come together through this exciting project!
Remembrance Day
On Tuesday, our school gathered to recognise Remembrance Day, an important occasion where we honour the courage, service, and sacrifice of Australian men and women who have served in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping missions.
Students discussed the significance of the poppy and why Remembrance Day continues to hold deep meaning in Australia today. At 11am, the whole school paused for a minute of silence, taking time to reflect on the soldiers who gave their lives and the importance of striving for peace in our world.
We were incredibly proud of the respectful way all students participated in this moment of remembrance, showing maturity and understanding of the significance of the day.
Graduation
As part of our Graduation for 2025, which will be held on Tuesday 16th December, students and staff will enjoy a catered dinner together at school.
Families are then invited to join us for a formal ceremony, which will take place in the Performing Arts Theatre. This is a way for us to come together, reflect and celebrate the Class of 2025.
We ask that students are dropped off at school at 5:30pm and they will sit down for dinner at 6pm.
Families are to arrive from 7:15pm, for a 7:30pm start.
