Student Activities

Encompass
A dedicated group of PRC students have been volunteering with the community donation centre at Encompass. The students work together to assemble care packages for individuals and families experiencing hardship, providing their time and energy to support those in need.
This experience provides students with a meaningful opportunity to learn beyond the classroom. Through teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, students are developing practical skills while gaining a deeper understanding of social responsibility and empathy.
Many students reflected on the sense of achievement and purpose they felt, knowing their efforts would make a positive difference in the lives of others. By participating at Encompass, our students are building personal and professional skills that will hopefully inspire them throughout their lives.
Personally, I was inspired to see the great work and enthusiasm all our Encompass students put in. It has been a privilege to work alongside each of you for such a good cause.

Plenty River College Sausage Sizzles Make a Difference in 2025
Every Friday throughout the 2025 school year, the sizzling aroma of onions and sausages outside Mernda Bunnings became a familiar and heart warming sign of community spirit — led by the students from Plenty River College. Under the guidance of staff, student teams took turns running weekly Bunnings sausage sizzles to raise funds for worthy causes and learning projects that promote compassion, teamwork, and responsibility.
The community-based initiative began on February 28 and continued through October 31, covering 21 Fridays of active fundraising. Each week, different student groups managed all aspects of the event —from setup, food preparation, and customer service to handling cash and bookkeeping— learning practical business and communication skills in the process.
By year’s end, these dedicated efforts raised a total of just over $10,000 and which has been set aside to support a range of community and school-led projects.
Special thanks go to all students who volunteered their Fridays, the staff who supervised each event, and the Bunnings staff and customers whose generosity made these efforts possible. The experience not only supported community needs but also helped students gain confidence, responsibility, and pride in representing Plenty River College in the wider community.
As we close 2025, we celebrate a year of sizzling success — proving that a simple sausage in bread can make a big difference when served with passion and purpose.

RAGE (Recognising Anger and Gaining Empowerment)
This term, students participated in the RAGE (Recognising Anger and Gaining Empowerment) program, designed to help young people understand and manage strong emotions in positive ways. Through interactive discussions, real life scenarios, and hands-on activities, students explored healthy coping strategies, communication skills, and problem-solving techniques. The program encouraged self-awareness, empathy, and resilience, supporting participants to make confident and responsible choices in challenging situations.
