In Term Four, Level 3 Students have been exploring procedural texts in their writing. At the start of the unit, students unpacked the purpose and structure of this text type, learning that procedural writing helps to explain how to do or make something in a clear and logical way. Together, we explored a variety of examples, such as recipes, science experiments and craft activities, identifying key features like sequenced steps, verbs and specific details.

Students also looked closely at how diagrams, headings and steps help make instructions easier to follow. They practised planning and drafting their own procedural texts, focusing on writing clear titles, listing materials in order and organising each step so it makes sense to the reader.

It’s been wonderful to see the students engage with this unit! They’ve really enjoyed writing their own instructions and taking pride in creating pieces that others can easily follow!
