Year 10 News

Vermont Secondary College

Year 10s — we’re nearly there!

Just a few weeks to go until the end of the year, but before you start dreaming about holidays, there’s one last hurdle which is the final CATs and exams. This time around, things are a bit different. Instead of doing exams in class like Semester 1, you’ll be sitting them in proper scheduled sessions during Weeks 7 and 8 (from Tuesday November 18th to Friday November 28th — just like the Year 11s). It’s a great chance to get used to the real exam setup and show what you’ve learned. You'll also be required to wear full school uniform (just like usual) to these scheduled exams.

The exam schedule will come out sometime next week so stay tuned. Monday 17th is a Class Free Revision Day for those exams, so make sure you make the most of this day - use your revision resources, listen to your teachers, and ask for help when you need it. Every bit of effort now will make a difference.

You’re so close — don’t ease off now. Power through, stay focused, and finish strong. You’ve got this!

All the best - Ms Bird, Ms Muhtaseb, Mr Connell and Mr Duiveman

We spent the days getting to know one another, the bus drivers and of course the lovely team of teachers that accompanied us. We made our way to places like Coober Pedy, Uluru, Alice Springs, Daly Waters, Kakadu and of course Darwin.

The trip was spent delving into Indigenous Culture and practices, testing our limits, meeting new friends, listening to Mr Smyth's AI music wrap up of every day and cruising through cities and towns in Australia that some of us had never imagined experiencing.

The trip was so worthwhile and the memories and relationships I have gained from this experience are so special. I wish I was still there 🙂

The students were wonderful, as they enjoyed sketching the koalas and viewing the spirits of the sky bird show. Well done to all the students for your excellent research skills!
