Parent Social Media Age Restriction Webinars
Commences Nov 14
Starting 10 December 2025, new regulations will prohibit certain social media platforms from allowing Australian children under the age of 16 to create or maintain accounts. These changes mark a significant shift in online safety standards, aiming to better protect young users from potential risks associated with digital platforms.
All Eltham High School staff have received the dates for the upcoming educator webinars. We strongly encourage all parents and carers to attend the eSafety Commissioner sessions to gain a clear understanding of the new restrictions, how they will be enforced, and how best to support your young person. The 30-minute webinar will help parents and carers understand the upcoming changes to social media access for children under 16.
Join the information session to: - Understand the purpose of the new age restrictions and how they aim to protect young Australians - Understand which platforms will require users to be 16+ and what platforms they can still access - Get tips and resources to support your child’s online safety and wellbeing through the transition.
Parents and carers will gain: - A clear understanding of the new rules and their implications - Confidence in guiding their child through these changes - Access to trusted resources to support safe and positive online engagement.

Keeping Kids Safe Course: Year 7 and 8 Free Course Parents and Carers
Commences Nov 19
Keeping Kids Safe (KKS) is a free, four-session course for parents and caregivers of Year 7 and 8 students to build confidence in talking with their young people about relationships, consent, respect and sex in a way that aligns with their family values, culture and faith. The program is designed to prevent sexual violence, backed by research and created by a team of experts in health, education, and gender equality.
It is an Australian-first parent focused course encouraging them to have confident conversations about consent, relationships, and sexuality. It is being evaluated by La Trobe University and is being funded by Department of Social Services.
The course is designed to complement what young people are learning at school through Respectful Relationships programs. By working together, schools, parents, and communities, we can help make sure that young people get clear, consistent messages about respect, consent, and healthy relationships.
The program takes place over four consecutive weeks, with the dates and times listed below. Each session builds onto the last, so we encourage participants to attend all four sessions to get the most out of the experience.
This course will:
Prevent sexual violence happening among young people
Feel more confident talking about consent and sex
Understand how gender inequality contributes to violence
Learn about recent changes to Victorian consent laws
Explore age-appropriate, positive ways to talk about sexuality
Support your child’s learning at school through Respectful Relationships
