Acting Principal Update

Good afternoon parents and carers!

Monday proved to be a highly productive day at school, with staff working diligently to enhance our reporting processes. Our goal is to ensure you remain well informed about your child’s progress. Thank you to everyone who completed our Google Form. Your feedback has been invaluable and will help guide our improvements moving forward.

School Values

INTEGRITY – RESILIENCE – PERSONAL BEST – RESPECT – KINDNESS

Focus Value for Weeks 5 and 6: KINDNESS

For the next two weeks, we’ll be focusing upon and celebrating kindness, reminding ourselves that even small acts can make a big difference. This focus connects perfectly with World Kindness Day on Thursday, 13 November.

Displaying kindness has numerous benefits:

- Kindness fosters belonging, respect, and inclusion across the school community.

- Kindness supports emotional wellbeing as acts of kindness contribute to positive mental health by reducing stress and promoting feelings of safety and connection.

- Kindness strengthens relationships and builds trust between students, staff, and families.

- Kindness promotes a safe and respectful school environment by reducing conflict, bullying, and exclusion.

- Kindness helps establish a culture where everyone takes responsibility for maintaining respectful behaviour.

Over the next two weeks, we look forward to exploring the value of kindness with our students. We also extend our congratulations to the following students, recognised for demonstrating outstanding resilience during Weeks 2 and 3.:

- Eilidh, Frankie, Harrison L, Leon and Matilda 🌟

Our week 4 and 5 resilience award winners will be announced at assembly tomorrow

Rotary Speech Competition

I am incredibly proud of Maya and River for their outstanding speeches at the Rotary Speech Competition last Tuesday evening. Delivering a confident speech in front of peers, families, teachers, and distinguished guests is no easy task, and both girls truly excelled!

2026 Planning

Just a quick reminder that if you have any valuable information regarding your child’s class placement for 2026 that goes beyond what we already know, please email it to the school office at  menzies.creek.ps@education.vic.gov.au  by tomorrow, Friday 7th November. It is essential that all requests are submitted by tomorrow to assist with planning, staffing, and organisation for the upcoming year. Unfortunately, late requests cannot be considered.

It would also be very helpful to assist us in our planning for the 2026 school year, to have confirmed numbers of enrolments for next year. It is important to know if any families of children currently in Prep to Year 5 are leaving Menzies Creek in 2025, so it would be greatly appreciated if you could please inform the office as soon as possible if your child/ren will not be returning next year.

Halloween Dress-Up Day! 👻

Last Friday, many of our students joined in the fun by dressing up for Halloween! It was wonderful to see families coming together after school to enjoy a picnic and take part in the much-loved, highly anticipated trick-or-treating along School Rd. A big thank you to Sarah for organising this fantastic community event.

Building Works 🏫

Last term, I shared the exciting news that our school is set for a revamp! Starting this Monday, work will begin on the Junior School building, including upgrades to the shutter system to ensure our Shelter in Place area meets safety standards. Additional projects such as vegetation removal and painting external surfaces with fire-resistant paint will also take place.

From next month, improvements will continue with the restumping of the Administration building and updates to the decking areas. Further works will also be completed on weekends and during the school holidays. These include replacing the roof on the Multipurpose/After School Care building, repairing leaks and replacing flooring in the Plot to Pot rooms, and varnishing the 5/6 portables decking.

These upgrades will not only enhance the safety of our school but also give our grounds a fresh, renewed look for everyone to enjoy.

Assembly

Our next assembly will be held tomorrow, 7th November at 3:00pm.

- During this assembly, the Foundation–2 class will present a short item on resilience, and students from Year 5/6S will share highlights from their recent Lifesaving Program at Aspendale Beach.

Kind regards,

Nadja Wood
