Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

There was much excitement yesterday, with the discovery of a special visitor.  While everyone had hoped that 'Oscar' the Barn Owl (just one of many suggested names) would stay and become our School Owl, unfortunately this was not to be the case.  Many of our local birds created quite the commotion about the new arrival and were probably quite concerned about having competition for their lunch!  Sadly Oscar was gone today, but we are all hopeful of of another visit.

Congratulations to those students who participated in last week's Division Cross Country running event, in Wodonga.  It was great to hear how much students enjoyed this event and were proud of their achievement.   Our best wishes to Mac, Ferdi and Harry who all qualified for the next level of competition, which will be held in Benalla.

Last week, our classes participated in a range of activities relating to National Reconciliation Week. This included exploring the concept of reconciliation and associated themes, through discussion, mentor texts and art activities. Prep-1 learnt about the importance of story-telling and used traditional symbols to decorate and create their own story on the eucalyptus leaves to create this wreath.

A reminder that tommorrow, Friday the 7th June is a pupil free day, to enable staff to undertake report writing.  OSHC will be running for families who require care services, however bookings are essential.  As Monday 10th June is the Kings Birthday Public Holiday, there will be no school or OSHC running that day.
