S.T.E.A.M.

Science Technology Engineering Arts Maths

What a fabulous end to our Space unit we have had these past few weeks in STEAM!

The Preps, Grade Ones and Grade Twos explored the story of Suzi Orbit, Astronaut. They looked at an experiment where part of a tea bag rose into the air when it was lit. They participated in some space exploration play-based activities where they created models out of playdough and Lego and created images of rockets and astronauts. They programmed Blue Bots with coded sequences to draw planets. They also reflected on some of the knowledge they have gained this term. Did you know sunsets appear blue on Mars?

The Grade Threes and Grade Fours continued to work on their fabulous space board games that they have been creating to showcase their scientific knowledge and understanding about space. Some students also had the chance to play their games and test the knowledge of their classmates.

The Grade Fives completed their pages for a book about space that they have been creating for their Grade One buddies. They are excited to present this to 1Z very soon! They experimented with using sequences of code to get Blue Bots to draw and discovered they could create circles, windmills, letters and other curved and straight line images. They also looked at paper building techniques and had a go at making a rotating paper star and a cylindrical paper plane.

Lego Club

Lego Club runs on Mondays during lunchtime in the S.T.E.A.M. room. Everyone is welcome!
