First Contacts - grade 3 & 4's First Fleet ships

Students constructed these ships from cardboard templates they cut out, and embellished them with lots of extra details.

Stitch art with grades 5 & 6

Students designed a picture on cardboard, then used a pushpin to puncture holes 1cm apart. They then sewed over their image (with the image being on the back of their card) to make it come to life. They had to be careful to note that the reverse of their drawing would be seen on the front. They then mounted their finished design on cardboard.

Wintry days with Preps

Snowman collage: looking at shapes; circles, rectangles and triangles. They had fun cutting out their shapes to make a snowman, and this was great practise for their fine motor skills. Using the hole punch for snow and eyes made the smaller bits so much easier to obtain than cutting tiny parts!

Polar Bear drawing: students drew their polar bear with black oil pastel and smudged in the sides of their bear before cutting it out. They glued it over the top of their background, which was made from a food dye-oil pastel resist with salt for added sparkle and effect.
