Director's Report
Term 2 2024
Hi Families,
Term 2 has been a busy Term at Livingston with many visitors in at the kinder including Kathleen, who, in the 4-year-old groups introduced the children to sound healing/ relaxation sessions. We also had Body safety sessions in the 4-year-old groups. The practices and strategies that are included in this program, are embedded in our programs and included in our child safe action plan (which is a working document) available in the Policy folder on School stream.
There were dance incursions in the 3-year-old groups, family sessions in lieu of Mother's Day in all groups and parent/ teacher chats. These provide opportunities to have discussions about your child and then set individual goals moving forward. The kinder photos were taken at the start of the term, and we hope will be sent out early on in Term 3. As a community kinder all of the funds we receive through funding from the Department of Education, fundraising, grants etc. goes towards the running of the kinder - to pay staff wages, to fund the afore mentioned incursions, to upkeep/ buy/replace resources and to run the fantastic programs we offer. We are therefore grateful for parent support through washing, fundraising, donating craft bits etc. We always have a creative area set up and in line with our sustainability practices, we use recycled resources where possible. We love donations that support our efforts. Items such as ribbon, small boxes, lids, etc. We also go through many boxes of tissues, so if every family could donate a box that would be great.
As we move into winter the germs increase! We therefore ask that if your child is unwell, you keep them at home to stop the spread to other children and staff. We have been very fortunate thus far, but with the shortage of staff across all industries including Kindergartens, replacing staff due to sickness can be difficult and may result in the cancellation of sessions so we appreciate your support.
howethe safety of your children is always our priority.
When there are different staff members working in the group's they may not know the person picking up your child, even if you have been at the kindergarten for some time!
In this situation, staff will ask for ID and will need to cross check this with information listed in your child’s profile.
For this reason please can you ensure that people collecting your child are aware of our practices and procedures.
Louise.
