Year 10 Monash University Science Immersion Day

Yr 10 Science Immersion Day

On Tuesday 18 June, Year 10 students spent the day participating in a range of different workshops offered by the Monash University Faculty of Science. Students had the opportunity to learn genetic techniques used by conservation geneticists in the School of Biology, design a vehicle propelled by a chemical reaction in the School of Chemistry, get hands-on with rock and mineral samples in the School of Earth, Atmosphere and Environment, explore the unexpected world of knots with the School of Mathematics, and search for hidden features image using image analysis in the School of Physics and Astronomy.

Students appreciated the chance to work in Monash Uni labs and spaces and everyone was able to find something that they enjoyed with the most common complaint being that there was not enough time!

A big thank you to the Monash University Faculty of Science and to our Monash liaison, Dr James Drsicoll, for a fantastic day.

Year 10s will have another chance to experience some of what Monash has to offer on Thursday, 18 July, when they participate in the Biomedicine Immersion Day.
