Science Week: Species Survival

Tuesday 13th of August, 2024

National Science Week is just around the corner, running from the 10th to the 18th of August.

This year's theme, 'Species Survival - More than just sustainability', highlights the vital role of science and innovation in ensuring the survival and flourishing of various species in our rapidly changing world.

To immerse our students in scientific learning, we will host a dedicated Science Day on Tuesday, 13th August

Students are encouraged to dress up as a type of scientist that ignites their curiosity and passion. Whether it's a marine biologist, an astronomer, a chemist, or any other scientific role, we invite them to let their imagination soar and showcase their chosen field of science through their costume. I will be awarding the most creative costumes in each year level with a prize!

Throughout the day, students will have the chance to explore a diverse array of intriguing topics, such as disease-causing organisms, life-saving chemicals, clean water, photosynthesis, genetic screening, the physics of building structures, artificial intelligence, and microplastics.

Each year level from Foundation to Year 6, will engage in three hands-on experiments tailored to their interests, ensuring that every student finds something that captures their imagination and sparks their curiosity.

We are excited about the rich, inquiry-based learning opportunities that await our students and look forward to documenting and sharing their experiences with our school community.
