Religious Education: Sacramental News

Over Term 3, our Year 6, Year 3 and Year 2 students will be involved in the Sacramental Program.
So far students have participated in parent family evenings on Confirmation (Year 6) and Communion (Year 3) and have been involved in the commitment Masses held over the past two weekends. Year 2 will have their First Reconciliation Family Night on Tuesday 20th August at 6pm. A link to the Google Meet will be sent closer to the date.
The following is an overview of the forthcoming Mass for the Sacrament of Confirmation followed by our First Communion dates and times, as well as the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Sacrament of Confirmation (Year 6)
The Sacrament of Confirmation Mass: Friday 16th August at 6pm.
Confirmation Evening
Confirmation will take place on Friday, August 16th 2024 at Good Shepherd Parish Church. It is crucial that all students arrive in their classrooms at 5:15 PM. They must be accompanied by their sponsor. This timing is essential because we will be administering stoles and demonstrating to sponsors how to proceed to the altar with the candidate, ensuring a smooth and meaningful experience for everyone involved.
Sponsors
A sponsor should be Catholic, having received the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. Ideally they will be someone they can turn to for spiritual advice and support. This could be a family member, Godparent, relative, sibling or family friend.
Dress Code
Students should be dressed in smart attire with appropriate shoes.
Sacrament of First Holy Communion (Year 3)
The First Communion Masses will be held on the following dates:
Sunday 8th September at 11am and 1pm
Sunday 15th September at 11am
Dress Code
Traditionally girls wear a white communion dress or simple white dress.
Boys wear smart attire with appropriate shoes.
Please note: Information regarding photos and arrival times will be sent out next week.
Reconciliation (Year 2):
- First Reconciliation Family Night Tuesday 20th August at 6pm. A link to the Google Meet will be sent closer to the date.
- First Reconciliation: Wednesday 16th October
- An email with further information will be sent to Year 2 parents closer to the date.
