Tribute to Fr. Kaz

2nd of June 1954 - 7th of July 2024

On Monday 22nd July we commemorated the life of Father Kaz at our whole school assembly. Our year 6 Altar Servers (Adiv, Lucas, Xavier, Aiden and Jay) reflected on their memories and shared the impact Fr Kaz had on their lives.

Opening Prayer

Dear God,

We gather here today with hearts full of gratitude for the life of Father Kaz. We thank you for the blessings of his guidance, his kindness and his strong faith that he shared so generously with us.

Reflection:

Father Kaz was a Shepherd who led our community with love and compassion. His words inspired us and his actions showed us the way.

Fr Kaz was the most dedicated priest ever. He was always ready to do his best. He always had a smile on his face and was encouraging. I remember the first mass that I served. I made a lot of mistakes but he didn't get angry, he just helped me learn. I also remember serving on my birthday. He announced to the entire church that it was my birthday and then after mass gave me a lot of lollies. My final memory is when I served on a weekday mass and I was serving by myself, Fr Kaz told the church to applaud me. His kindness and generosity are all very big parts of him. He lives happily forever in heaven and may his soul rest in peace.

Adiv

On my Baptism and Communion, Father Kaz was the one who was always there to bless me and guide me through my life. From my birth to this present day, Father Kaz was the one who helped me strengthen my religious path. He was always there with a smile on his face, which made me smile.

Lucas

In 2018 we received a prayer bracelet from Father Kaz. During Christmas Father Kaz gave us a basket of chocolates to share with everyone.

Xavier

I remember at Christmas time, when the Mass ended, Father Kaz would give out free candy to us. He was so kind and generous. When the Christmas choir came, he had a big smile on his face. After the choir ended he was the one that had clapped the loudest. Father Kaz helped me and encouraged me in my catholic path. The way he talked was so inspiring.

Aiden

For the past seven years I have been going to Good Shepherd Parish. Father Kaz never dropped his dedication to being an amazing priest. After Mass, even if I didn’t serve he would be open to having a chat with my family or myself. After chatting he would give me and my sister a high five and would send us home with a smile on our face.

Moment of Silence:

Think of a moment when Fr Kaz's words or actions made a difference in your life. Perhaps it was a comforting conversation, a high five, or a prayer that lifted your spirits. His legacy of faith and service will always be remembered in our hearts.

Let us now observe a moment of silence to reflect on the impact of Fr Kaz's life among us, and to offer our prayers for his eternal peace.

Prayer of Thanksgiving:

God of mercy and love,

We thank you for the gift of Fr Kaz's life among us. Thank you for his dedication to our parish school community, for his tireless efforts to nurture our faith and for the countless ways he touched our lives with love.

May his soul rest peacefully in your presence and may his legacy of faith continue to inspire us in our journey of discipleship.

Dear God,

We ask for your continued guidance and strength. Help us to carry forward the lessons of faith and compassion that Fr Kaz imparted to us. May your peace and comfort be with us always.

Amen.
