R U OK?  Day September 11

Each year our school acknowledges R U OK? Day.  This is coming up on September 11th.

R U OK? Day is an important opportunity for our school community to highlight the value of looking out for one another and building strong, positive connections. By learning how to ask, “Are you OK?” and respond with care, our students develop lifelong skills in empathy, kindness, and peer support, making our school a safer and happier place for all. It’s vital that everyone has at least one person who checks in on them when they’re feeling down or facing challenges, and teaching these skills helps ensure no one feels alone. Together, we can build a culture that checking in with friends and classmates isn’t just for one day, but a part of our everyday life.

This year we are asking students to wear a touch or splash of yellow to school in support of the day.  This can be a yellow t shirt, yellow hair tie etc.  Students are also invited to bring along a gold coin donation which will go to the R U OK? Day organisation.  The money will go to helping the organisation support communities, schools and workplaces with tools, resources and the confidence to ask… “are you OK?” any day.

New mural

Are you a graphic designer, artist, or someone with skills to help us design a new school mural? Over the past few months, you may have noticed that the wall by the 5/6 Building has received a fresh coat of paint and is waiting for a great design.

We want to create a mural with our students that is simple, linked to nature, calming, and reflects elements of the Eltham North area. If you can offer your expertise in helping with the design, please contact Janine Tucker via Compass.

Removal of rooms 21 and 22

This week the beginning of preparation works for the removal of rooms 21 and 22 commenced. This means that the gate adjacent to room19 is not accessible whilst the works take place. We are on track to see the removal of the rooms on September 15th. The removal team will be leaflet dropping our neighbours with details of the road closure on the day. We will share these details with our community as soon as we receive them to help you with drop off procedures on the day.

Have your say on the Work From Home legislation

Vicki Ward is hosting an online discussion for parents and carers who work from home a few days a week, to get your feedback and to use your stories to strengthen the case for the work from home legislation recently announced by the Premier

The information from this discussion will then be compiled in a de-identified letter and sent to the Premier and submitted to the consultation process currently open to inform the legislation.

The online discussion will be held on Friday 5 September. Any interested parents or carers can register your interest via this link:  (https://aus01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/…). Please note, this session is only open to people who live in the Eltham electorate.

If you are unable to attend but would like to have your feedback included in  advocacy you can fill out this survey to ensure your voice is heard: [https://vickiward.com.au/wfh
