Wearing not wasting!
The EAT’s scheme to prevent fast fashion!
Have YOU seen kids wearing “new” old clothes that you have previously seen on other kids?
Do you want to know how all these clothes changed owners?
Read on to find out more...
In the past 2 weeks the Environment Action Team (EAT) held a clothes swap where students donate and swap clothes. Did you know the amount of clothes waste produced each year weighs 4 times the weight of the Sydney Harbour Bridge?!
If you are wondering why we did it, you are not alone.
We did it to stop textile waste.
Textile waste is one of the main water wasters and microplastic makers.
It slowly sucks the life out of our planet.
The people who organised it were the EAT students from 5/6. Some of these students are Morgan, Avani, Loukas, Lola, Jessie, Sara, Izzy, Estelle and Isaac.
We had approximately 400 pieces of clothing! However not all of them were sold. The remaining clothes will be given to a charity for people in need of clothes.
We would like to thank everyone who donated clothes and came to Wearing not Wasting.
Thank you so much!
