Thank You for Your Feedback: Parent Opinion Survey 2025
This year, 73 families completed the Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey - grazie mille! The preliminary results are very encouraging, with more than 90% positive responses in many areas, such as School Connectedness, student enjoyment of learning, care for student safety and wellbeing, respect for diversity, promotion of positive behaviour, and the enthusiasm and positivity of our teachers.
The feedback also highlights areas where families would like to see further focus; particularly in receiving information to support your child’s learning and developing a clearer understanding of how your child is assessed. Our School Improvement Team is already considering ways to strengthen our processes in these areas, and we warmly welcome your suggestions. Please feel free to email me, or catch me for a chat in the yard anytime if you’d like to share your thoughts.
A farewell and two welcomes
We’ve welcomed Katherine to our teaching team this week, and she will be taking Performing Arts for the remainder of the year. She is fluent in English, Italian and French, and has a strong performing arts background. You can find a brief bio and photo on the Compass newsfeed. Please take a moment to say ciao and introduce yourself when you see her on the yard!
It’s been a pleasure to welcome Francesca back after being away on Family Leave. Fra brings a wealth of experience to Year 1/2 and is looking forward to closing out the year with such a wonderful group of students!
Marianna will be finishing her time with us at the end of this term, after doing an excellent job covering for Fra during her Family Leave. With her kindness, creativity and warmth, Marianna has made a real difference to our students this year. Pinguini, Delfini and Balene have enjoyed her thoughtful guidance, and many children have discovered a love of weaving and craft thanks to her influence. We are grateful for Marianna’s contribution to our school, and we wish her all the best in her next endeavours.
Buone vacanze!
As we come to the end of another busy, fun-filled term, I’d like to thank our whole school community for the part you have played in making it such a positive and successful one! I would like to sincerely thank our dedicated staff for their ongoing commitment, care and enthusiasm in providing the best possible outcomes for our students.
Looking ahead, Term 4 promises to be no different. We are preparing for La Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo, our Festa di Primavera, and of course the very special Grade 6 Graduation as our senior students prepare for the next step in their journey.
Siamo tanto orgogliosi di te!
Our school values the learning and development of our staff, and the positive impact this has on student outcomes and school improvement. We are proud to share that Annawas accepted into the Teaching Excellence Program this year at the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership. This program enables teachers to advance their capabilities and excellence in teaching.
Anna has participated in 3 discipline days and 3 Teaching Excellence Community Learning days this year and completed an inquiry project, where she focused on teaching practice in Arte to improve the outcomes for students. We are proud that Anna has represented our school at the Academy in raising the status of the teaching profession!
Wildside Exhibition
Our Wildside Exhibition last week was a spectacular celebration of student learning and creativity in both Arte and STEM. Students explored native birds and flora, creating stunning artworks while learning how to increase biodiversity within our school. Projects focused on providing habitats for struggling insect-eating birds and nesting opportunities for local parrots affected by tree hollow shortages. A big thank you to Noel and Eileen for designing the project, Anna and Sarah for inspiring our students’ creativity, and to everyone who attended and supported this wonderful initiative. Extra special thanks to Noel, who successfully applied for the grant through Sustainability Victoria.
Congratulations to Nancy and our Zecchino D’oro choir on opening the event.
Staff v Students Basketball
Our Staff v Students basketball match this week was a fantastic celebration of BSPS community spirit! The court was lined with cheering supporters, cheering loudly as both teams played with equal measures of passion and humour. The students brought speed and energy, while the staff showed grit and teamwork. The score? Who knows. It was the laughter, excitement and support from the crowd that made the game such a highlight of the week. Thanks to Jack for organising.
Wishing all our families and all BSPS staff a safe, restful and happy holiday break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back, refreshed and ready for a fantastic Term 4.
Ciao for now, Kristie
